Are you listening?

Stop. Stop right now. Now close your eyes and listen. Take a big inhale and exhale. Can you hear it? Listen past your thougths and to do lists. Keep listening. It's there, barely. Let go of what is 'supposed' to be happening right now. Let go of what you should be doing and listen. Can you hear it? Let that voice of judgement and inner critic soften their volume. Can you hear your breath yet? Keep listening. It's under there. Still in there. Buried among all of your 'should haves', 'wish I didn't or dos', 'why would that bes' and the 'I can'ts or never going to happen'. It's faintly still there. Like a drifting ghost, it can be fleeting, float right past your mind under the radar and you don't even register it. Or you second guess yourself about if what you saw was real or what you thought could be real. It's real. Can you hear it yet? It's often a whisper and is usually simple in it's message. It comes for me when I'm alone and quiet. I feel a pull or a nudge or urge. It has a certainty and does not bring questions with it. It is often stated as facts with such conviciton that it can take you by surprise how out of place it is to your other internal dialogue. 'That's crazy' used to me my response when I gave it any attention or deeper thought. But then stay with it. Are you still listening? Stay with that wild idea and see where it takes you. These wild ideas or what ifs or creative imaginings were given to only you. No one else can see them or even know they are there. They call to you in the night or early morning or while driving and they are meant only for you to hear. Your intuition is a knowing, a calling, a deeper pull directing you to your next step along your path. It may be small or grand, but it is often a request for a shift or change or choice. If you don't answer that call, who will? No one else is listening but you. Can you hear it?
