**Parent Yoga: How to Find the Time** ⌚

‘We have two lives, the second begins when we realize we only have one.’

~Confucius

We have all  had those days and weeks, when we feel like we don’t have a minute to ourselves. We are faced with so many responsibilities as working moms, partners,  and trying to keep all the balls in the air is truly impossible at times. But prioritizing yourself and self care as a necessity is an absolute to survive parenting~it’s a marathon not a sprint. You can’t give from an empty cup.

Studies show that even 15 minutes a day of exercise can make a difference for your health and even increase your life expectancy! Here’s a link for a quick article if you wish to read more:

Here’s 3 tips to try for finding the time that doesn't seem to exist to get into your body and move with your breath~whatever that means to you!

  1. Wake up early and get to it!

If you are craving a quiet house and don’t mind setting an alarm, the early morning routine may be best for you. Even if not every day, by combining a few early mornings with some other moments in your schedule, this can be a great way to sneak in a few extra solo minutes.

  1. Do it with the kids

Whether you have them join you and workout alongside you, or get them fed, set up with a quiet solo activity and get to it yourself! It doesn’t take a separate room or set up to be active-you don’t even have to leave your house. Kids will naturally absorb whatever is in their environment, so if setting exercise as a priority, so will your kids and more often than not, they will join in with you or at the very least, get curious about what you are up to. Craving fresh air? Take them in the stroller or on bikes as you head out for a quick jog around the block.

  1. Commit by making it a date with a friend

Having a workout buddy that lives nearby, is a great strategy to keep you accountable, committed and can add a social component which can help you feel motivated. However, it is definitely key that your workout buddy lives nearby and has a similar schedule as you. Early morning walks or hikes with a friend can help you feel more inclined to get out of bed in the morning.

Setting You as a priority can feel selfish and uncomfortable at first. But it is NOT. Your health affects the quality of care you give everyone you take care of and everything you do. Set your body and mind as a priority so you can begin living your best life.
