The First

Be the first. Have your first. Enjoy your first. Celebrate your first. Acknowledge your first. Whatever you are striving for, take one small step in that direction. Once the momentous energy shifts and you notice small steps toward your goal, acknowledge that.

Be the first person to notice somewhere new to go. Then take the lead and take the reins and then take a step, watching, noticing and seeing differences and opening cracks that create a new place for you, but also for others to follow.

Becoming single was the most terrifying event in my life. Thus far, I started with small steps, exploring new ways to do everything. Not because I wanted to, but because I had no choice. Being alone, after so long with a partner, felt strange, terrifying, and very uncomfortable. However, five years later, I am realizing all those tears, frustrations and panic attacks were the foundation to clear a new path. As I continue forward down this path, I look around me and notice all the beautiful souls in my company. Some of them were my support, my crutch, my reassurance that there is a future after such a blow. Some of them are starting a similar journey down their own path parallel to mine. The amount of emotion I have felt in the past five years was more than I had ever felt in the previous 40. Ups and downs, highs and lows, curves and accelerated moments all combined to bring me here. Right now. I am full of gratitude and love for the company I choose to keep on this journey with me.

What is a first for you lately?

Where is there a new opportunity to make a slightly different choice than prior?
